Junior Triathlon Team Head Coach
![]()
Steve is the head of our Junior Triathlon program and brings a special energy to the team. He is focused on getting kids onto the right track with athletics and healthy, balanced activity early in life. Steve has been a lifeguard and swim coach with Menlo Swim and Sport since early 2009, and has experienced just about every duty in the pool and on the deck.
Steve has been a member of Team Sheeper since January 2010. As he experienced a life-changing entry into the world of triathlon, he found he wanted to give that back to the kids on the team. In his first year as a triathlete he will have completed 7 races and is looking to accomplish many more such goals in the year to come. He is training for an Ironman in 2011 in Germany and is looking forward to passing on his experiences to our junior athletes as he gets ready for that race.
In the summer of 2010, Steve volunteered his services in support of the 4-man cycling team that completed RAAM (Race Across America) and that included Tim Sheeper along with three other Menlo Swim and Sport athletes. Steve spent a week accompanying the riders across the country, providing crew leadership and medical assistance as they made the challenging trip coast to coast.
Steve has a great love for helping people, and because of that, he has become certified as an EMT and is working on becoming a paramedic in the next year. He is excited about developing Junior Triathlon into an exceptional program and looks forward to inspiring kids with his experience and his passion for people and community.
