Juliette Applewhite

Menlo Mavericks Coach
Menlo Swim and Sport Swim Pro

Juliette has loved the water all her life. She began swimming at a very young age and competed from the age of 12 to about 17. She began coaching 8-and-under swimmers in San Mateo at age 15. After graduating from college with a psychology degree, she married and had 4 daughters (now all teenagers). Juliette came off her 20-year taper and began swimming for fitness some years ago. After joining Menlo Masters she began competing again, with distance freestyle and butterfly quickly becoming her favorites.

For Menlo Swim and Sport, Juliette is a Menlo Mavericks Coach and is our Swim Pro, offering individual lessons. Juliette brings her natural teaching ability and inspirational energy to the Mavericks kids and has helped the program grow and flourish. With her adult swimmers, she seeks to develop the finer points of swimming technique not only to improve form and swiftness, but to reduce injury. The nuances of the swimming strokes are what make Juliette really happy — along with seeing her students accomplish things in the water they never thought possible.

Along with swimming and coaching, Juliette spends her time substitute teaching for the Redwood City School District, playing with her family, hiking and doing Pilates. She very much enjoys her time working with the Mavericks and with her Swim Pro students. She says that at the pool, she truly has her dream job and if she could, she'd spend every waking minute helping others love swimming as much as she does.
