Camp Menlo Spring Break offers professional swim instruction in a fun-filled camp format for EMERGING SWIMMERS and DEVELOPING SWIMMERS ages 5–12 years.
To provide maximum safety and optimal instruction we have created two categories of camp based on our Menlo Swim School and Menlo Mavericks criteria.
Based on the criteria below please register your child accordingly.
Caters to our less experienced swimmers who need extra supervision in the water. If your swimmer falls into any of the following categories they enroll as Emerging Swimmers and enjoy a swimmer/instructor ratio of 4:1 whenever they are in the water.
Emerging Swimmers Camp is aligned to the Menlo Swim School levels 2, 3 and Freestyle:
Level 2: Child can swim 12 1/2 yards without assistance or stopping, and is able to pop up for air when needed. Arms should be stretched out and chin on the "fast button". Unassisted back floats should be mastered.
Level 3: Child can swim 12 1/2 yards unassisted and without the aid of fins, child must have good control over body positioning and stretching of arms. Child must also be able to control body positioning on back and advance four yards without letting legs sink (either by sculling or kicking).
Freestyle: Child can consistently swim 25 yards of correct freestyle and is proficient at breathing.
Designed for campers who are already comfortable in the water and have PASSED the freestyle test for Menlo Swim School.
Swimmers will be coached in some or all of the four swim strokes, depending upon an evaluation performed on the first day of camp.
The swimmer/counselor ratio is 8:1.
If the registrant is already a Menlo Swim School participant then use their current level to register for the appropriate camp.
Emerging Swimmers Camp - Level 2, 3 and Freestyle
Developing Swimmer Camp - Backstroke, Breastroke, Butterfly
If your swimmer has not attended Menlo Swim School please come in for an in-water evaluation with one of our experienced swim instructors.
Evaluations take place at:
Monday - Friday : noon and 7:00pm
Saturday : 1:00pm
