Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to sign up online?

A: You’re encouraged to take advantage of online registration, but you may go to the pool and sign up at the front desk.

Q: Can I pay with cash or check for programs that aren't drop-in?

A: Credit card transactions are preferred. We will make exceptions where necessary—please visit the pool to sign up in person and request an alternate payment method.

Check in when you visit the pool

You must check in at the front desk with your name and the program you're attending.

If you come to Open Swim, you'll receive a wristband good for the entire day. Wristbands differentiate swimmers from non-swimmers who are admitted for free, and they help our guards preserve Open Swim areas of the facility for open swimmers.

How do I choose a level? Evaluations!

Levels are clearly defined for Swim School, Mavericks, and Junior Triathlon. New students need a quick in-water evaluation before you can choose a level during the registration process.
To be evaluated, simply show up (with swimmer, swim suit, and towel!):

  • Monday–Friday at noon or 7pm
  • Saturday at 1:00pm

Swim School: Evaluations are required for Levels 2, 3, and the Stroke levels. Waterbabies, adults, and Level 1 (beginners) do not need evaluation. >more

Menlo Mavericks: All new swimmers who haven't recently attended Menlo Swim School need evaluation. Note that Levels 1, 2, and 3 practice at different times. >more

Junior Triathlon: Levels 1, 2, and 3 work out at the same time, so kids move easily between levels according to their skill at each sport. When registering, choose a level based on age. >more
