Mavens Memberships

Student and Seniors receive a 30% discount off the above rates. Seniors are ages 65 and older. To be eligible for student rates, you must be enrolled full time at an accredited high school, secondary, or vocational school

No drop-in pricing, but please come try for free! All practices are tailored to meet individual experience levels. Regardless of your fitness level or years of experience, you will find new challenges and rewards at each practice.

Masters Water Polo Membership

USA Water Polo, the national governing body for the sport of water polo, includes Masters divisions and encourages adults to enjoy water polo all levels.

Whether you're interested in fitness or competition, we require annual membership in Masters Water Polo when you register with us. USWP membership provides insurance required to operate our Water Polo programs for both men and women. Sign up here, at the USWP website.

Policies:
  • A water polo registration does NOT cover any other services at the pool including the use of the baby pool, lap swimming, or open swimming. These must be paid for separately.
  • Mid-month and mid-quarter registration is at a pro-rated fee.
  • All recurring registration payments are non-refundable, and are billed automatically on or around the first day of a month or quarter.
  • Fifteen (15) days written or email notice of termination is required to end automatic payments. Notice can be mailed to Menlo Swim and Sport; 501 Laurel Street; Menlo Park, CA 94025 or by our on-line form at http://www.menloswim.com/menlo/feedback.html. Fifteen (15) days written or email notice is also required for changes to automatic payments. Notice for a change or cancellation must be 15 days in advance of your next billing date. The automatic transaction goes through as set up, unless notified 15 days BEFORE that transaction is due to go through. A $30 reinstatement and/or change fee will be charged for registrations stopped and re-started, or for registrations put on hold for any period of time, or for other administrative changes made to registration and registration types.
  • Credit card information provided at time of registration will be processed on a quarterly or monthly basis depending upon type of registration. In the case of charges being declined, registrant will be invoiced for the amount due plus a late fee of $25.00.

Masters Water Polo for Women
Menlo Mavens

Menlo Swim and Sport offers women's water polo for all experience levels, ages 19 and over. Our team, the Menlo Mavens, is a fun, inclusive, and diverse group with a passion for water polo. Give the game a first-time try or come hone your skills. 

The coaching staff brings years of top level play and coaching experience to the Menlo Mavens team.  The Mavens coach, John Briscoe, brings an amazing enthusiasm and drive to our team. Our goal is to build a strong and exciting women's water polo program that both introduces new players to the sport and provides professional coaching and challenge for experienced players.

Mavens Mission Statement

The Menlo Mavens is a Masters women's water polo team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The team includes players with a wide range of experience and ability levels, from first time athletes to veteran players, and an age range from nineteen to over sixty. Keeping with the spirit of the game, it is the goal of the Menlo Mavens to sustain a fun, diverse, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere. Each player should feel challenged to strive for individual as well as team excellence, to integrate competition and sportsmanship, and to celebrate her participation in a community that fosters friendship, good health, and a passion for water polo.

Two practices per week
Wednesday night, 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Conditioning and Fundamentals
Improve your aerobic and anaerobic fitness while working on water polo-specific skills such as ball handling, individual offense and defense, and shooting.  This is a great practice for those new to the sport as well as those wanting to play at a more intense, athletic level.

Skill Work and Game Situations
We focus this practice on team-oriented offense and defense.  Practice will begin with individual work and move into game situations such as front court, counter attacks, and 6-on-5.

Sunday morning, 8:00am – 10:00am

Game Situations and Scrimmage
Whether you're a beginner or advanced player, experience a game situation and have fun learning about strategy or honing your competitive skills.  This practice is fast-paced, but open to all levels. New and experienced players welcomed.
