Cool Summertime Smoothies & Slushes
Here are some helpful ideas to help beat the summer heat after a hot running, cycling or swimming workout.
Smoothies
Make quick and healthy smoothies by combining organic apple juice, fresh fruit of your choice and a small container of flavored organic yogurt in a blender.
For a tropical smoothie, blend pineapple juice with frozen bananas and mango sorbet.
If you love peanut butter and chocolate, you will love a smoothie made with chocolate milk, a dollop of all natural peanut butter and a frozen banana or a scoop of frozen yogurt.
Slushes
Freeze pineapple, papaya, watermelon, orange or grapefruit juice in an ice cube tray. Once frozen, pulse in a food processor or blender to the consistency of a snow cone. Serve in an ice cream bowl or cup topped with diced fruit, coconut or shaved chocolate.
For a tangy slush, mix lime sorbet with pomegranate juice and fresh mint and ice cubes in a blender until puréed.
Freeze green tea mixed with cranberry or pomegranate juice in ice cube trays. Pulse in a blender to make it slushy.
