Are you up for a challenge?

New for 2012, the Menlo Masters swim team invites all Menlo Swim and Sport members to participate in the Can-Do Challenge for the month of February. Whether you swim at the pool, participate in Menlo Fit Boot Camp, or bike in the foothills, join the challenge and help us achieve even greater participation in the canned food drive in support of Menlo Park Senior Center’s Brown Bag Program.

Here’s how it works. Each day you swim, take a Boot Camp class, or exercise outside, record your yardage (swimming) or time spent (all land-based exercise). At the end of the month, we ask that you donate a can of food for each 2000 yards you swim or 1 hour of exercise. Menlo Swim and Sport then matches your donation with dollars, and all of it goes to the Menlo Park Senior Center’s Brown Bag Program. Last year we donated 3000 cans of food; help us break 5000 cans in 2012!

Share your personal goals and success stories on our Menlo Swim and Sport Facebook page.

Adult Swim Instruction

Menlo Swim and Sport brings three new programs to adults who want to learn to swim, or perfect their technique:

Adult Swim Clinics: Tuesday, February 7 and Tuesday, February 21, 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Built around each swimmer as an individual, and utilizing video, these clinics serve as preparation for swimmers looking to join Masters, or Masters swimmers looking to improve their stroke.

Adult Beginning and Intermediate Swim lessons: Mondays from 12:00 – 1:00pm. These group swim lessons focus on body position, water comfort and improved swim technique. Ideal for swimmers needing more instruction, these 3 0 minute lessons are available for beginner and intermediate swimmers.

Lifestyle Swim Workouts: Wednesdays from 9:30 – 10:30 am. These fun and structured workouts are great for lap swimmers looking for more guidance. Work on cardio, stroke technique, strength and speed.

Our swim pro Juliette Applewhite, is also available for private individual lessons, for beginners to advanced swimmers.
