Setting Yourself Up To Succeed: 2010 = A New You!

With the new year, there is a healthy new you waiting to come out. When setting your New Year's resolutions, it is good to set specific health goals to try to lose weight, build strength and muscle and to excel in swimming. To succeed, it is important to determine what you would like to achieve, set a plan of action and to track your progress to see where you have been and to see where you are going.

It is important to understand what you are trying to accomplish with your exercise program. Set up realistic and attainable goals. Inform yourself on how to attain and reach the goals that you have set up for yourself. While reaching those goals, set some target dates to try to strive for; when you reach those goals decide how you will support and reward yourself in a positive and healthy way as not to set back your progress.

It is really important to understand all the information that you will need along your journey; set yourself up for success. Plan! Many people do not understand and are surprised at the daily effort it takes to reach their goals.

Once you know what you are doing and how you are going to do it, you'll need some strategies to keep your memento going.

  • Schedule your workout times and your meals. It is important to always have the tools you will need to succeed, have your exercise equipment and food ready to go.
  • Prepare! Understand that there might be setbacks, we are only human. It is important to recommit to your goals every single day.
  • You are not alone, reach out for support. Schedule your workouts with family and friends to support you and to keep you motivated.
  • Keep a work out journal and a daily food log to keep you honest and on track. It is important to collect data to help measure your success.
  • Set up weekly and monthly goals and rewards yourself in a positive and healthy way when you reach those goals.
  • There is no shame. Be honest with yourself and take your measurements regularly

We wish you all the best in accomplishing and succeeding in your personal life goals and in your fitness goals.
