Congratulations Mavens!

Congratulations to Coach Lindsay Holland and the ladies of the Mavens Womens Water Polo Fifties Team. The Mavens received a team gold medal last month at the Summer National Senior Games held at Stanford University. The ladies played two games on a Saturday and two games on Sunday to get the top spot on the podium. We are so very proud of all you ladies, way to represent the sport of womens water polo. >more

Water Polo Co-ed Scrimmage

The Mavens water polo team will be hosting an open co-ed scrimmage Friday, September 11 from 7 – 8pm. The scrimmage is open to adult men and women of all abilities. Each participant will need a USA Water Polo membership in order to play in the open scrimmages. If you go to the USA Water Polo website www.usawaterpolo.org, you can sign up for a three month membership, please bring proof of registration to the scrimmage. Alternately, you can sign on for a free one-week trial membership on the pool deck with the coach the night of the event. The drop-in fee is $5.00 which is to be paid to the coach. >more

Mavericks Summer Wrap-up

Coaches Juliette, Nancy and Mike would like to thank the swimmers, family volunteers, and team parents who made the Summer Mavericks a great season.

We would like to give a special thanks to the Mavericks team moms Mary Wright and Margarita Mendez; these two amazing women spent countless hours volunteering and coordinating to make sure that the swim meets and practices went smoothly. You ladies are awesome!

On a personal note, we would like to say good-bye and thank you to Coach Nancy Lewis for her many years of service to the Mavericks program. Thank you for sharing your talent, enthusiasm and dedication with the children, parents and staff. You definitely will be missed. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. >more

Fall Mavericks

With the growing popularity and demand for the Mavericks program, we are happy to announce additional and extended workouts for the Mavericks team and the addition of Mavericks Level 4. The Level 4 program is for more experienced, confident swimmers, Level 4 will continue the fine tuning of swimming fundamentals. The new schedule for Mavericks will start on Tuesday, September 8.

Level 1:
Monday - Friday: 3:30 - 4:00pm - Instructional Pool
Monday - Friday: 4:00 - 4:30pm

Level 2:
Monday - Friday: 4:30 - 5:15pm - Instructional Pool
Monday - Friday: 5:15 - 6:00pm

Level 3:
Monday - Friday 5:30 - 6:30pm

Level 4:
Mon., Wed., and Fri.: 5:00 - 5:30pm - strength training
Mon., Wed., and Fri.: 5:30 - 6:30pm - swimming

Team Sheeper Junior Triathlon

We are happy to announce the hiring of Cara Barr as our newest coach to the Junior Triathlon Team. Cara is a Team Sheeper tri-athlete, who worked this past summer as a head counselor for Camp Menlo. Cara will be a Junior Triathlon Coach, the Event Coordinator for Junior Triathlon Team and the Coach Coordinator for Junior Triathlon Team. Coach Cara along with Coach Cindy Welton, Coach Katie Ferguson, Coach Kelly Coach, Coach Sally Osterberg and Coach Sally Phillips are ready and excited to start the Fall Session that started on August 24 and go through October 30. >more

Mark your Calendar

Menlo Swim School will be closed on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. There will be no Masters workout at noon, no swimming lessons and no Mavericks practice.

Menlo Masters

The Menlo Masters will be hosting the Mountain View Masters for an annual swim meet and brunch on Sunday, September 27, 2009. The meet will be held at 7 to 10am at the Burgess Pool with a brunch to follow from 10 to 11am. >more

Team Sheeper

Members of Team Sheeper will be participating in the Santa Cruz Triathlon on Sunday, September 20, 2009. The triathlon kicks off with a one mile swim around the pier, followed by a twenty-five mile bike to Davenport, ending with a six mile run to Natural Bridges and back along the beautiful coastline. 40 members are primed and ready to compete in this fall favorite. >more
