Youth Programming Summer Schedule

Keep these program dates and times in mind while you do your child’s summer planning and scheduling.

Summer Camp

As of today all the sessions of Camp Menlo are still available! We apologize for posting last year's camps page on our website that made many of you believe that all the camps are full; rest assured that we still have space available. With that being said, make sure that your child has a space in camp by registering today, as all the camps will definitely sell out. Camp Menlo focuses on water activities. We offer a diversity of water sports while cultivating water skills and building a strong foundation in aquatics for a lifetime of safety, health and enjoyment.

We splash summertime magic into every camper's memory! The camp is best suited for children entering kindergarten through those entering 7th grade. The prerequisite is that children must be able to swim twenty five yards, which is one length of the pool. Menlo Swim and Sport is currently accepting registrations on-line for the summer. The camps are one week in length. There will be ten weeks offered, with the first week of camp starting on June 15th. We are happy to announce that we will be offering two camps daily in the summer of 2009. Camp Menlo will run in the morning from 9am – 2pm and in the afternoon from 2pm – 6pm. >more

There were five swimmers who swam more than 200,000 yards, there were over thirty swimmers who swam more than 100,000 yards and one hundred and twenty-five swimmers who swam 50,000 or more yards. Way to go – what an inspiration and achievement! This year our goal was to collect over 6,000 cans for the Brown Bag Lunch Program.

Saint Patrick’s Day Green Velvet Cupcakes

Here is a quick, easy, fun and tasty treat for your and your little leprechauns to do after school or after a swim practice. This recipe is sure to bring you good luck and smiling faces from your kids and their friends.

Cupcakes

  • 3/4 cup canola oil
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. white vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. liquid green food coloring
  • 1-1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Icing

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tbsp. milk or cream
  • green food coloring
  • candy or decorative sugar for topping

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Place 10 paper liners into the cups of a muffin pan.

In a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat together the oil, sugar, egg, vinegar, vanilla and green food coloring until combined.

In a smaller bowl, stir together the flour and baking soda. Add to the egg mixture, in two or three additions alternately with the buttermilk, beating well.

Spoon the batter into the 10 paper liners, divide evenly.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick poked into the middle of a cupcake comes out clean. Remove from pan and let cool thoroughly.

Meanwhile, make the icing. In a medium bowl with an electric mixer, beat the butter until creamy. Add the icing sugar gradually, in 3 or 4 additions, beating very well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla. Add the milk or cream, 1 tbsp. at a time, beating well, until the icing is creamy and spreadable -- the more you beat this, the better it will be. Add the food coloring, beating it in gradually until the icing is tinted the way you like it.

Decorate cupcakes with green sprinkles or colored sugar.
