Kids Summer Camps
Camp Menlo focuses on water activities. We offer a diversity of water sports while cultivating water skills and building a strong foundation in aquatics for a lifetime of safety, health and enjoyment.
We splash summertime magic into every camper's memory! The camp is best suited for children entering kindergarten through those entering 7th grade. The prerequisite is that children must be able to swim twenty five yards, which is one length of the pool.
Menlo Swim and Sport is currently accepting registrations on-line for the summer. The camps are one week in length. There will be ten weeks offered, with the first week of camp starting on June 15th. We are happy to announce that we will be offering two camps daily in the summer of 2009. The Camp Menlo Morning Camp will run from 9am – 2pm. The cost is $250 per week. The Camp Menlo Afternoon Camp will run from 2pm – 6pm. The cost is $200 per week. If you choose for your child to attend both camps daily, the cost is $400 per week. >more

February Can-Do Fitness Challenge
Menlo Masters and lap swimmers are invited and encouraged to participate in Menlo Master's Can-Do Challenge in honor of February. According the American Heart Association Cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, are our nation's number one killer. To urge Americans to join the battle against these diseases, since 1963 Congress has required the president to proclaim February "American Heart Month."
Each day in the month of February, we ask that you keep track of the total yardage that you swim for the day and then write the amount on the charts that are kept in the front lobby. At the end of the month, we ask that you donate a can of food for each set benchmark amount that you accomplish. Menlo Swim and Sport /Team Sheeper will then match your amount in a financial donation. The cans are collected in the front lobby and then donated to The Menlo Park Senior Center’s Brown Bag Program. We thank everyone who participated last year; your efforts produced thousands of can and hundreds of dollars for the Menlo Park Senior Center.

Setting Yourself Up To Succeed
There is a healthy new you waiting to come out. It is good to set specific health goals to try to lose weight, build strength and muscle and to excel in swimming. To succeed, it is important to determine what you would like to achieve, set a plan of action and to track your progress to see where you have been and to see where you are going.
It is important to understand what you are trying to accomplish with your exercise program. Set up realistic and attainable goals. Inform yourself on how to attain and reach the goals that you have set up for yourself. While reaching those goals, set some target dates to try to strive for; when you reach those goals decide how you will support and reward yourself in a positive and healthy way as not to set back your progress.
It is really important to understand all the information that you will need along your journey; set yourself up for success. Plan! Many people do not understand and are surprised at the daily effort it takes to reach their goals.
Once you know what you are doing and how you are going to do it, you'll need some strategies to keep your memento going.
- Schedule your workout times and your meals. It is important to always have the tools you will need to succeed, have your exercise equipment and food ready to go.
- Prepare! Understand that there might be setbacks, we are only human. It is important to recommit to your goals every single day.
- You are not alone, reach out for support. Schedule your workouts with family and friends to support you and to keep you motivated.
- Keep a work out journal and a daily food log to keep you honest and on track. It is important to collect data to help measure your success.
- Set up weekly and monthly goals and rewards yourself in a positive and healthy way when you reach those goals.
- There is no shame. Be honest with yourself and take your measurements regularly.
We wish you all the best in accomplishing and succeeding in your personal life goals and in your fitness goals.
